Participants will come in for two hour shifts and will work on an assembly line set-up.

During your two hour shift you will:

  • Receive education about the hunger needs of our world
  • Receive training for the packing process
  • Work with a team to put dry meal ingredients in bags then seal, label, and pack them

The Food

Feed My Starving Children has worked with nutritionists to develop a meal that will both save lives and improve the long-term health of hungry children. The food mixture consists of:

1.Rice, the most widely accepted grain around the world.
2.Extruded soy nuggets, providing maximum protein at lowest cost.
3.Vitamins, minerals and a nutritionally-enriched vegetarian chicken flavoring
4.Dehydrated vegetables for flavor and nutrition

Things You Need to Know

1. All volunteers must sign a liability release in order to participate. Participants under 18 must have the signature of a parent/legal guardian (two parents/guardians, if possible). Download the appropriate liability release form below, and bring it with you to your shift(s).

2. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your shift, so we can check you in, print your name tag, and verify that you have a signed liability release form(s).

3. All packing equipment/materials will be provided for you. You don’t need to bring anything but you, your liability release, and willing hands.

4. Dress to work (ex:T-shirt & jeans)

Please Note: For families or individuals bringing children, the following child-to-adult ratios must be adhered to:

  • Children below the age of 5 may not participate and cannot be in the packing area.
  • Children ages 5-7 must EACH be accompanied by one adult (1 adult per 1 child).
  • Children ages 8 and above must be accompanied by 1 adult for every 2-3 children

  • 7th – 9th grade = 1 adult to every 4 young people
  • 10th – 12th grade = 1 adult to every 5 young people

Donations

The meals cost about 17 cents each (100,000 meals = $17,000) plus some overhead and miscellanies expenses. This puts the cost of each volunteer at around $45. If you are able to give a financial gift to offset this expense, it would be a big help! You can donate directly to our event (here Enter event # 1004-74) or email us (rojoapparel@rojoapparelcom) if you are interested in becoming one of our sponsors.
